Hi Tim,
Foundation Day was a huge success! I'd like to
congratulate our newest Paul Harris Fellow, Greg DiBurro. Through his many years
of service and serving Haverhill Rotary, Greg is a well deserving recipient of
this honor. Thank you all for purchasing raffle tickets for the "Basket of
Cheer" and congratulations to the winner, Ron Albert. All money collected
through this raffle is going toward our Foundation giving. Ron gave a wonderful
talk about what the Rotary Foundation is and named some of the projects and
scholarships that make use of Rotary Foundation money such as the Ambassadorial
Scholars and the Group Study Exchange. You can learn more about the Rotary
Foundation by going to www.rotary.org
If you were unable to
attend Foundation Day which was also 100% attendance day, fear not. It's easy to
make up by going to http://www.rotary.org/membership/education/makeups.html
and click on the "Rotary E-Clubs Pilot Project - List of Clubs". There you will
find a list of E-Clubs. Select a club and follow the links to make-up online.
Thank you for your support in helping us achieve success with our 100%
attendance day!
Thanks to Ken Smith for coordinating our service to the
Salvation Army. Bell ringing sign-up has begun! Times are available for Friday,
December 15 and Saturday, December 16. Contact Ken at Pentucket Bank for your
opportunity to ring the bell for a very worthy cause. 'Tis also the season to
collect mittens! Please consider donating a pair of mittens or gloves to the
Salvation Army Christmas Castle. Bring in a pair or two at our next Rotary
meeting. It'll warm your heart to know you've warmed the hands of a
child.
If you didn't get a good look at the Eternal Diamond Pendant
generously supplied to our Christmas Raffle by Sally Cerasoulo-O'Rorke, take a
peak at it at next week's meeting. It's stunning and would make a wonderful
Holiday gift for yourself or a loved one. More raffle tickets are available
through Chuck Marvin. The drawing will be held at the meeting December
21.
Don't forget we're gearing up to begin our literacy project with
Community Action's Head Start program in January. We'll be reading, once a month
to classrooms of 3 and 4 year olds. If you haven't had a chance to sign-up for
this project, contact John Cuneo at Community Action. It's easy. It's fun. And,
it takes only one hour of your time per month.
Until next
time,
President Darlene
Ira Korinow thanks Heavenly Donuts owner for again donating
desserts to the community meals program that was served by Haverhill Rotary Club
members on Monday November 20th.
