Success

Co-chairs Sheryl Meehan and Julian Rich deserve our gratitude for
a successful auction. Thank you
May 1, 2007

Hi Tim,
We did it! The 13 Annual Haverhill Rotary
Auction was a huge success! Everyone worked extremely hard to create
an auction that raised over $40,000. The team work and camaraderie
that was shown along the way was incredible. I am so proud to be a
member of the Haverhill Rotary Club. Thanks to co-chairs Sheryl and
Julian and all our committee chairs. There are so many people who
did very specific jobs and then some. Everyone had their hand in one
thing or another to help out whether it was securing donations
and/or items, selling tickets, distributing posters, working the
phone bank, setting up, or cashing out! I appreciate everything
everyone did. Thank you!
I attended a Rotary Youth Exchange
Officers Meeting on Sunday, April 29th. It was great. Most may
remember a few months ago Haverhill Rotary agreed to sponsor an out
going exchange student. We are now learning more about sponsoring an
incoming exchange student. Last November Jackie Banister, RYE
Chairperson visited Haverhill along with a current exchange student
from Venezuela. Their presentation was inspiring. The Rotary Youth
Exchange is a wonderful program for Haverhill Rotary to participate
in. I am currently lining folks up to take a role in the Youth
Exchange. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact
me.
Until next time, Darlene

Congratulations to all for the success of both auctions. We will
benefit many deserving local charities.

Program
Highlights
President Darlene gave us an abbreviated
presentation of her Rotary trip to Dehli, India. The Rotary project
was to distribute polio vaccine in clinics in Old Dehli, and
actually administer the oral vaccine to children below five years of
age.
The traveling Rotarian worked with local Rotarians to
contact and vaccinate as many children as possible on National
Immunization Day.
There was also a water sanitation project
in the village of Chalhauka that Darlene helped on. It was a busy,
productive experience for the traveling Rotarians. Truly service
above self.
Darlene related two instances of chance meetings
with Indian Rotarians on the basis of both parties wearing their
Rotary pins.
