Hi Tim,

Here 'N There

School is out for the summer! Drive carefully and putt with care as well.

June is wedding anniversary month for which many are happy and our happy dollar fund is also. Congratulations to all, particularly to Dick and Jackie Emerson, celebrating their 56Th!

Predictions are difficult to make - especially about the future.

We predict a smooth 3 weeks left in President Darlene's tenure and an easy transition as the gavel is passed to President Elect Vin Bonanno.

Congratulations to Jeff Davis as he assumes the chair of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for the year ahead and chooses a successor to Sally Cerasuolo-O'Rorke.

Program Hilights

John Cuneo presented a power point program about the Community Action's purchase and renovation of the Fox School on Elm Street.

CAI purchased Fox School from the city in 2005. CAI plans to create an intergenerational learning center with classrooms and training rooms for children and adults.

There will be a 25 car parking space to ease the parking problem in the neighborhood.

The ball field will remain the property of the city.

There have been expenses of demolition's asbestos removed and remediation services which were provided for by Yankee Environmental Services of Newburyport, MA free of charge.

The total purchase and project completion cost will be $2.1 million dollars.

The ground floor will contain staff offices ad a complete kitchen for the Head Start program.

The second floor will house Head Start classrooms, while the third floor will have adult education classrooms including a computer lab classroom.

There is a huge demand for and a long waiting list for the adult education program.

The Head Start program will be leaving its long time Dan Olime Home Bradford location.

Community Action is looking for a September opening for the Head Start program which will be able to expand from its present 175 participants in this new location.

Thanks to John for the updated on the progress. Who says you can't teach an old Fox new tricks?
