The Nairator – March 4, 2014

President’s Message

Application for Membership (week1):  An application has been received for Cecilia Buckles of Advertising that Works for membership.  This will be in the Nairator for three weeks.  If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free to call me or one of the other board members.

I am happy to say that Frank Novak came to Rotary with a completed map.  They have gone to print and we have our fingers crossed that they will be at next week’s meeting.  The map looks great.  Frames for the maps will be available through Michel VanRavestyn.

SPEAKERS:  This past week Joe and Michael Bevilacqua joined our meeting to speak to us about what is going on in the Merrimack Valley Chamber and also to talk about a banking/business initiative in March to stimulate the economy as part of his Chairmanship with Governor Patrick of the Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board.

Guests:  We were happy to have two young ladies from the Haverhill High School Interact Club who came to talk to us about their latest fundraising venture.  They are collecting old electronics (phones, laptops, iPods etc.)  If you have any, please bring them in to the meeting and I will make sure that they get them.  Also Cecilia Buckles returned to our Rotary Club and put in an application for membership.

Interact Girls

This week’s Meeting – the speaker will be Gordon Lewis Stone to talk about the history of the Linwood Cemetery.  Amy Vets will be sworn in as our newest Rotarian by Cindy Ryan.  Please plan on being there to give Amy a big Rotary welcome!

Do you know of a Speaker?  Please see Frank Novak or myself if you have a speaker you would like to come to visit our club.

ACE OF CLUBS:  No winner again this week.  The pot is growing now!

WEATHER ALERT!  This is a reminder on Rotary weather-related cancellations.

If there is no school in Haverhill or if school is dismissed early due to inclement weather, there will be no Rotary meeting.  If anyone has any doubts on whether we will be having a meeting, please feel free to contact me either at my email address of:  BMichaleas@Yahoo.com or call me at 617-899-9866.  But you can be sure that if there is no school in Haverhill, I will not be driving anywhere.  I will also post on the Haverhill Rotary Face Book Page called Haverhill Rotary Rubber Duck Regatta.  So look for it and like it.

BRING A FRIEND TO ROTARY.  Anytime you bring a guest we have a potential new member of our club.  We need energetic people who will be willing to get involved and have fun by making new friends and networking, and most importantly be willing to do service above self.  We have invitation cards at the front desk for you to take with you.
