President’s Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Anyone who has served a year as President of the Haverhill Rotary Club can tell you that hardly a week goes by when we don’t hear from someone expressing appreciation for our support in helping his or her organization flourish.  Whether it’s feeding our neighbors, sheltering the homeless, educating our children, or funding our cultural initiatives, our community leaders and NPOs know that Rotarians are here to contribute in some small measure toward the achievement of their goals, not to mention the overall advancement of the communities we serve. Sometimes we receive headlines for our generosity more often we do not—which is okay because we do what we do for service and not for self. Moreover, the cards and letters delivered weekly to our post office box are satisfaction enough.

Announcements:

Arthur: The Haverhill Citizens Hall of Fame will induct its 37th and 38th members on Saturday at the HPL

Melissa: Gave us an update on the Veterans Day Breakfast. A show of hands had nearly all Rotarians pledging to attend. Thank you Pentucket Bank for your generous sponsorship and for buying 20 tickets for 20 veterans!

Art: Going to Community Action’s 10/27 Comedy Action Comedy and Auction Event.

Megan: Led us in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday to Matt and Greg

Melissa: For the safety of her family in SC in the wake of the Hurricane Matthew

Nicole: CRC Dinner; Tribute to Women Awards (Ed. Note: Nicole & Melissa have done us proud) and Young Professionals Event.

Art: for Temple Emanu-El’s friendly gesture toward Bradford Christian Academy

Speaker: Dipti Bhatt of Blue Coast Beverages led an informative discussion on wines replete with a participatory product sampling in order to highlight the presentation with an apéritif.

Raffle: Mike Reilly had the winning ticket but left the jackpot intact.
