President’s Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Young Guns

We speak recurrently about the veterans of the Haverhill Rotary Club. We know who they are without mentioning them by name; Rotarians who live and/or work in greater Haverhill who have earned the unofficial distinction of community leaders through hard work and volunteerism.  Esteemed men and women who know that community service is a byproduct of success and achievement. But who are tomorrow’s leaders and from whence will they gain the wisdom and experience to assume the mantel of community leadership? Well you don’t have to look any further than your club to find some good candidates.

We are fortunate to have a core of thirty-something Rotarians who have caught my eye as future leaders: Jim, Steve, Melissa, Nicole, Evan, and Owen have already demonstrated a desire to volunteer their time and energy to good deeds both inside and outside this club. And they follow in the footsteps of their immediate predecessors who are just now in their prime years of community leadership: Tim, Stacey, Allison, Tracy, Gretchen, Jim T. and Jared. Forgive me if I left someone out.

This foreshadows a strong and dynamic Haverhill Rotary for tomorrow. Yet we cannot rest on our laurels when it comes to attracting and engaging the best and brightest to this #1 community service club. We must identify more people of good character who may be seeking a vehicle to help those less fortunate in our midst, to promote our schools and the children who will one day follow in our footsteps, and to assist the myriad organizations that rely on our financial participation.
