President’s Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Rotary meeting for February 8th at the Whittier Rehab is canceled due to weather. We will meet next week at the Poet's Inn at 11:30 AM February 16th.

The 2017 Polar Plunge was another spectacular mid-winter performance with Rotarians Jim Smith and Steve Bower taking the plunge along with Tom Faulkner, Jr. and Josh from Haverhill Bank rounding out the Haverhill Rotary squad, raising more than $1,200 to help Rotary International eradicate polio around the globe. Alas our cheerleader and part-time crustacean, Melissa was diverted by other obligations which kept her from attending this year’s dive, but in true Rotary spirit she fined herself a commutation fee of $100 for missing the frigid free-for-all. As you can imagine our hearty swimmers wasted no time getting in and out of the icy surf at Gloucester’s Long Beach before retreating to Harry and Mary’s fabulous home overlooking the Harbor in nearby Rockport where a warm shower, a bowl of hot chili and a cold beer awaited them. Topside at #2 Green Street, several awestruck onlookers including Nicole, Frank, Michel, Dale and Marcia Rogers, and my bride, Susan, enthusiastically greeted them. Congratulations Polar Bears!

Last week’s Visitors and guests:

Stacey introduced Mike Kimball from Santo Insurance

Harry brought along Dick Hanlon from Haverhill Bank

Billy Sheehan was our guest together with our speaker Russell Cooke
