President’s Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Many of you have heard and were saddened to learn of the passing of Kendall Smith. Ken died unexpectedly at his winter residence in Florida on Saturday February 11. Out of respect for the Smith family we have not made any announcement until now as Evelyn has just recently commented publicly on Ken’s passing.

Ken was a past president of our club (2003-04), a Paul Harris Fellow (2004), and a respected community leader.  He was a Groveland boy by birth and proud of it. A graduate of Bentley College he began his banking career in 1958 on the same day as his best friend and mentor Ed Cote at the Merrimack Valley National Bank, before moving to Pentucket Bank where he rose to the position of President and CEO before retiring in 2010.

Ken had a huge interest in motor sports and was involved in the history of racing locally and was a prominent member of the Pines Speedway Reunion Committee.  Above all Ken was a kind gentleman and good friend.

Condolences my be sent to:

Mrs. Kendall C. Smith (Evelyn)

2 Thayer Rd.

Kingston, NH  03848
