President’s Message

Fellow Rotarians,

Where to beginning... first of all, I want to thank you for appointing me the new Haverhill Rotary President. I am truly honored to be in this role for 1 year (that’s right I am only doing 1!) So, “Game on!” Can anyone name that movie quote? I am a pretty big movie buff so from time to time you will catch me quoting or reciting movies! Bueller…

Second, once again thank you to Art Veasey for a fabulous year! Please note though I am not as well written, a history buff or retired as Art is… so, you will probably want to red pen me or give me a grammar lesson or spell check me (actually hoping Steve Goddu will do all those things so I sound super smart and articulated! Thanks Steve in advance!) I will try to be as entertaining as I can and on point with the narrator as my schedule allows… BTW- Shout out to Haverhill Bank for all the support and for allowing me to take on this responsibility. Especially Harry and Matt, couldn’t do it without out you two.

Third, I wanted to reflex on the Presidents lunch meeting on Thursday, June 29th. We had about 48 people attend the lunch this day. I was truly thankful to my family for showing up My Mom Sally, Step Mom Dianne, Sister Sam, Cousin Patrick, My niece Emmerson, Nephew Jackson and the love of my life Matt Titus. It was also great to see some new and old faces in the crowd- Sven, Chief DeNaro, Deputy Chief Tony Haugh, Renee McGuire (potential new member from the YWCA), Sarah Wescott (potential new member from Copilabs) and future member Wes Davis (just processing the paperwork! You will be inducted on the 20th!) Later that night I had the pleasure to attend the Rotary District Installations dinner at the Danversport Yacht Club with my Matt and Michel. It was a great night. We got to see our very own Haverhill Rotarian Sheryl Meehan pass the gavel onto to the next district governor David Gardner. She was thrilled to see us! I have known Sheryl since the old days at the Haverhill Chamber when Sally ran it. We also bumped into my old friends at the Amesbury Club and friends at the Newburyport Club! We had a great time and I felt very welcomed by the district.

Ok…. So now onto this week! We will be having a very special surprise Paul Harris presentation at this week’s meeting. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS IT!!!

Upcoming Summer activities!!!! TENNIS TUESDAYS!!!! Over the 6-8 weeks I wanted to get any Rotarians (family and friends included) to come play some doubles tennis! I know we have a bunch of people in the club that play. I talked to Evan Sideman and he is going to pop in from time to time to say hi! Ok, so here is the deal- 1. Tuesday night’s 6:30-8 2. HHS courts (I went there and they have 3 courts- does anyone know if we have to reserve them? I don’t thing we do but wanted to double check) 3. We want 8 players a week 4. All levels are welcomed 5. WHO WANTS IN??? 6. Depending on people we can start next week???

One on ones- as I mentioned a few times I want to schedule to meet with YOU! Yes, you! Each Rotarian individually. I want to hear your past, present and future thoughts on being a Rotarian and your thoughts on our club! I want to hear it all! So… Bring it on! I will be reaching out to you asap and please please please feel free to always reach out to me: cell: 978.478.8184, meliscerasuolo@gmail or and I am sure you all know where I live now! Thanks Art for the beautiful paint job on the wood work!

Community Meals- Terry Beaton informed me our next Community Meals Sponsorship is scheduled for Monday August 7th.   At our next meeting, Terry will have a list for me of Rotarians who will be asked to bring desserts that day.  Bernie will coordinate the workers. I am also working on so new aprons for us!

My 1st narrator started out 4 pages long! Too long so I cut to 1 page and 1/4! I will be send over “housekeeping” thoughts the next few weeks!

See you all tomorrow!
