The Nairator

October 21, 2008

This Saturday, Oct. 25th, is "Make a Difference Day" in Haverhill. It will be Haverhill's 4th Annual "Honoring our Heritage" event with the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce leading the way. Volunteers from the Chamber and local service clubs will deliver mums to all residents of nursing homes throughout the city. Meet at 9 AM on the upper parking deck next to Pentucket Bank's main offices.

The Salvation Army is gearing up for their annual holiday fundraiser: the Kettle Drive. Let's win the competition against the other clubs this year! There is a new kick-off celebration event on Wednesday, Nov 12th with a breakfast at DiBurro's. Ken Smith has tickets. Let's fill a table!

It was great to see Debbie Fletcher, past Executive Director of the Haverhill YWCA and former Haverhill Rotarian again at last week's lunch.

This week I received the charter document from our Haverhill High School Interact Club. It was signed by 17 students, one of them being Ana Gogua, our echange student from Georgia. Officers of the club include:
Colin David, President
Tatiana Wabrek, VP
Ana Schramm, Secretary
Molly Gibbs, Treasurer
Congratulations to all the students and to the club's adviser, HHS teacher and Haverhill Rotarian Phil Brown. Way to go! We look forward to working with you. Phil is applying to see if the entire club might have lunch with us the first Thursday in November, during World Interact Week. Let's try for 100% attendance to greet the students as only Haverhill Rotarians can.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from elective surgery for Linda Sundell. It was great to see Greg DiBurro back from his surgery this past week.

See you Thursday at EvenFall.

John

Please help with Ticket Donations

Can you step up to the plate? We need tickets for our raffle and would like to get them now before they are all picked over. Please ask your company, family, and friends for a donation. Make a call today and let Julian Rich or Chuck Marvin know what you can get your hands on. If we have a great selection of tickets this fundraiser will be much more interesting to non Rotarians to cough up some cash for Haverhill charities.

This past year, Joanna Rheaume of Haverhill went to Brazil on Group Study Exchange. It was truly a life-changing event for her. Joanne spoke to us at last week's meeting. Team Leader for this year's trip to South Africa is our own John Cuneo so please spread the word to a deserving person who will benefit from this great experience.
