The Nairator

December 9, 2008

This month is Family month in the world of Rotary. Certainly it is a season filled with family gatherings. It's always fun to see family members visit at our club meetings. If you have the opportunity, bring some of yours and share with them something that you do weekly that means a lot to you. Everyone I know of has been pleasantly surprised with the jolly group we are.

Thanks to Rick Atwood, Megan Shea, Harry Korslund, Sheryl Meehan and Vin Bonanno for helping with Quacky at the Christmas Stroll. David Shaw, thanks for being willing and I'm sorry a funeral took you away to other duties. Thanks also again to the Boys and Girls Club members who handed out flyers about the 2009 duck race. At this week's club meeting, Sheryl Meehan, Diane Franz and I will give everyone an overview of the race so we get can get quacking on this exciting project.

As Ken Smith reminded us, please keep those donations to The Rotary Foundation (and tax deductions) coming. It supports so many worthy projects, including activities of our own club in the form of Interact for Haverhill High School students, local youth on foreign exchange, two this year will be going out (more about them in another issue), and Ana from Georgia visiting here to enrich both her life and ours and all the students she meets at Haverhill High, and the young scholars and professionals learning around the world --- some going from our District like Joanna to Brazil and the team I'm so lucky to be leading to South Africa in March, and others coming from counties like the team from Brazil and the Harvard Grad Student from rural Japan. Not to mention RYLA Rotary Youth Leadership Awards in May recognizing promising local juniors in area high schools.

Help the less fortunate and help us win back the bell for raising Salvation Army funds by signing up to take your turn ringing bells at Salvation Army kettles the weekend of the 20th.

See you Thursday!

John

Mittens and Gloves

We are still collecting gloves, mittens and hats for children and youth of all ages. Please bring your donation to the next Rotary meetings. Ken Smith will take care of getting them to this year's Christmas Castle run by the Salvation Army.

Who Has Season Tickets to the Celtics?

If you know the answer please ask that person for some tickets for our raffle. Make a call today and let Julian Rich or Chuck Marvin know what you can get your hands on. This project will benefit Haverhill Charities.
