Comedy Night Success
Comedy night was a great success. We had 200 people in attendance and everyone had a great time. I was so pleased to be the chairman of such a successful event but credit goes to many others who contributed to that success. Thank you to Charlene Laprel, Time Jordan and Eric Suess who coordinated ticket sales and Bill Kleuber who kept track of the money and every Rotarian who helped and sold tickets. A special thanks to Bonnie Michaleas and Charlene who made sure all of the appropriate tables had reserve signs on them. I was going to let everyone fight for their tables and they kept me out of trouble. -Steven Goddu

Home Again
I was born in the States but my parents were born in Canada. My mother was born on Cape Breton, my father was born on Prince Edward Island. My wife was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Because we still have family and because it's such a nice place we visit the Maritimes each year. One year while on Prince Edward Island we visited a family member at the nursing home where she lived. Her name was Kate Mac Tavish and she was well into her nineties in age. She was bright and smart and enjoyable to visit.
As it came time for us to leave she put her arm around my wife and said: "Now Martha dear, you'll be home again next summer?"
Out in the car Martha repeated what Kate had said about being home again next summer. "Imagine" she said "Home again, she considers me to be one of them."
On the next year we planned to again go to Canada, so before we left I sent a letter to the editor of the Halifax Chronicle at Halifax and told the story of the Prince Edward Island visit with Kate Mac Tavish. Our first Canadian visit was at Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia where we were invited to attend a meeting at their Historical Society. We met a number of people there including a retired local teacher, her name is Eleanor Blue. It appears that she had read the Halifax paper that published my letter about the friendly Canadian people and Martha's nice words from Kate Mac Tavish on Prince Edward Island on the previous year.
So as we were leaving, Eleanor Blue, that we had only met that evening, put her arm on Martha's shoulder and said: "Now Martha dear, you'll be home again next summer?"
Martha was impressed but I said to her: "Aw that's just something that the Tourist Bureau tells them to say to the visitors."
Not true of course, but now Martha won't go anywhere but Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
