Pog Mo Thon Road
My father and mother were both Scottish Canadian. Although I am U.S. born we still have family in Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island in Canada and visit there quite often.
Many of the Scottish there still speak Gaelic. I don't speak it, but grew up with it, especially if the old folks wanted to say something that they didn't want the kids to hear.
In nearby Plaistow there is a fairly new private road off North Main Street. I believe that a developer is permitted to name a road if they have built it. I don't know the story behind a road there that has a new sign on it that says:
"Pog Mo Thon Road Pvt."
I suspect that the developer was not delighted with having done business in Plaistow. In Gaelic, I of course remember the naughty or off color words.
Pog Mo Thon means: "Kiss My A--".
It will give you something to talk about if you drive by the sign.
