Comcast in Haverhill

Remember when having cable TV meant that you were able to watch the Bruins on channel 38? Bob Carr does. He has many years with Comcast and the Cable TV industry in general. Part of his duties include negotiating franchise agreements with various cities including Haverhill. This weeks topic will be a look at where we have been in the broadband industry, where we are and a look at where we might be going.

Fireside Chats: We are scheduling our Fireside Chat for Wednesday, May 14th at 5:15 until we're done at Evenfall. Club member and host Spiro will provide hors d'oueuvres. President Vin will provide the drink. I'll provide some questions or issues to consider. We need you all to come and provide your best thinking about the Club, experiences from other clubs and service organizations, and we'll have some good fellowship as well. We need some open-minded veterans who can tell newer members what's been tried, while being open to trying sometimes even the same things, but maybe with a different twist. We need newer members with new ideas, different perspectives, and also a willingness to listen and learn. Folks in between often have much to offer from both points of view.
As I've learned at PETS, and by surveying the internet, many Rotary clubs use these gatherings for new member orientation to help educate newer members about Rotary, club goals and activities, etc. The recent history here in the Haverhill Club has been to focus the meetings more really on organizational development, i.e., how can we improve the Club? What directions should the Club grow or change? At next week's meeting on May 8th, I'll get a head count of who can make it. I hope you'll make time in your busy schedules to join us.
If you have any suggestions of issues or questions you'd like to see discussed, contact me at jcuneo@communityactioninc.org, via phone at 978-994-2214 (cell), or leave a voicemail at 978-373-1971 x223. Many thanks to Spiro and Vin for supporting this event!

Community Meals Next Monday May 5th
As Rotarians we try to make every event we support the best it can be. Planning is an important part of having a successful evening serving community meals. We need people to bring desserts, help serve and help clean up. Please contact Bernie Clohisy and let him know if you plan to help. Thank you

Aspiring Heights

During our lifetime we like to honor special people that touch our lives. Sometime we name a bridge or a building after someone who has consistently placed service above self. Susan & Gordon Price of Ingaldsby's Farm have bestowed that honor to our own Bill Klueber and Bernie Clohisy by naming two piglets after them. Each claim their namesake is the handsomest. I wonder what they are really thinking.
