Tom Vartabedian: Armenian Genocide
Tom Vartabedian has a long history of being one of Haverhill's favorite reporters and columnists. Currently you can read his weekly column "Poor Tom's Almanac" in the Haverhill Gazette. He talks about family holidays, cooking, the theater or just about any subject that comes to mind. One of his favorite subjects he has a passion for is the Armenian Genocide; An all too often forgotten part of history. Pictured above are students from Wilmington High School along with Tom and colleague Albert Movsesian of the Armenian Genocide Curriculum Committee of Merrimack Valley. Last year these students were given a lesson on the subject as we will be this week. Tom will be our guest speaker.
Thank you for all of your efforts in getting new sponsors for the Rotary Rubber Duck Regatta. We are doing well but still need more sponsors so please continue your efforts. Download a copy of the Sponsorship Flyer to assist you in the solicitation.
The Rubber Duck Regatta is our major fundraiser and we need everyone's help to make it a success. Sponsorships are needed to cover the expenses of running the race which allows us to donate 100% of the proceeds of the duck sales to charity. Over forty organizations are counting on our support so please make your best effort. We need commitments no later than April 15th.
Collect the name and address of the appropriate contact person even if your business is unable to donate this year. We will keep this data for future solicitations. Once a business had committed to a donation we will send them an invoice. If you have a gold sponsor ( $2,500 ) we will also need an electronic copy of their logo.

Paying The Taxes
I've lived in Atkinson, New Hampshire since childhood. I may now be in my second childhood. Our Tax Collector is a nice person and has a good sense of humor. So each year when paying our real estate taxes we also send her a picture of her taxpayer.
One was a picture titled: Taxpayer On The Moon. (I couldn't take the taxes anymore so I went to the moon).
Another: Taxpayer At The Table. (Tax Collector: You are taking the food right out of my mouth).
Another shows Fred Mac Donald wearing a cardboard box with shoulder straps. Title: Mac Donald After Taxes.
One recent one: Taxpayer At Bank. Message: It's not easy trying to get money for the taxes.
This year we paid the taxes on a check drawn on the Latex National Bank.
I may never grow up.
