April 8, 2008

We are having a pretty good year. Interact at HHS is in good hands with Phil Brown. Phil is a member that took a teaching position with the High School and started Interact to stay connected to Rotary. They have 15 members. Luca, our youth exchange student is grabbing headlines as a student and an athlete and is hoping to go to college in the US. John Cuneo, our VP has facilitated one of his staff members as a group study exchange and Joanna is leaving for Brazil on May 10th. John has filled in admirably during my travel days. Dale Rogers, a Paul Harris Fellow and long standing, active Haverhill Rotarian has presented a check for $1000.00 to the foundation on behalf of his wife Marcia.
On a tough note, membership is holding but a few down. We had lost some momentum having to move to a new meeting place and pricing going up, however, now that we have settled in, I sense we will remain even for the year. We have inducted a fair amount of new members over the last few months.
Auction Items
This is our most important fund raiser of the year and everyone's support is needed. We are requesting that you deliver auction items by May 2nd. Download a PDF copy of the auction form or you may pick one up at Thursday's meeting.

Timothy Danehy and Ann Schramm join our lunch meeting last week. They are members of the Haverhill High School Interact Club sponsored by Haverhill Rotary.
Group Study Exchange - Minas Gerais, Brazil

The district is sponsoring a group study exchange to Minas Gerais, Brazil during the months of May and June. She will be representing the district along with Grace Martins, president of the Rotary Club of Peabody, Michael Miranda, a staff intern working on two Green projects with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, Deirdre MacDonough, project manager at EBSCO Publishing headquarters, and Matthew Grady, a client representative with Fidelity Investments.

Community Meals May 5th
As Rotarians we try to make every event we support the best it can be. Planning is an important part of having a successful evening serving community meals. We need people to bring desserts, help serve and help clean up. Please contact Bernie Clohisy and let him know if you plan to help. Thank you
