President's Message

Dear Rotarians,
CONGRATULATIONS to Ken Smith on being our first BIG RAFFLE winner. Ken picked the Ace of Clubs from a diminished deck of 25 cards and won the $542 kitty. There was a total of $1,084 which means that Haverhill Rotary also earned $542 a real win-win scenario for both Rotary and Ken. We will begin again with a full deck of 52 cards this Thursday. Let's build up the winner's take by buying into the raffle each week!
Thanks to Steve Goddu, we are in full gear on working for another successful Duck Race on September 11, 2010. If you are not yet signed up for a committee, please see Steve and he'll be more than happy to accommodate your wishes.
This Thursday is the District 7930 North Cluster Meeting as we welcome to our meeting the GSE (Group Study Exchange) from London, England. They will tell us about Rotary in the United Kingdom and they will be visiting various sites in Haverhill relevant to their classifications. Many thanks to John Cuneo (who knows first-hand the benefits of GSE), for helping to coordinate the GSE participants' visits to businesses and agencies in the Haverhill area. In fact, we are also helping to provide a tour of the Harvard University campus on Tuesday this week.
It's May and the Board of Directors is already looking ahead to the change of Administration. President-Elect Julian Rich is full of new ideas (but stale jokes) for the coming year. He'll be sharing those ideas with us later in the month.
If you haven't fulfilled your pledge to send Shelter Boxes to those devastated areas hit by earthquakes earlier this year, please do so by seeing either Treasurer Bill Klueber or Shelter Box Coordinator Chuck Traver.
Keep up the good work, Rotarians!
Rotarily Yours,
Ira
