Thank You

Emmett Horgan, owner of Rockingham Rockingham Nissan, Rockingham Toyota Scion, and Rockingham Honda has stepped up to the plate again to become the major sponsor for our primary fundraiser. He has agreed to donate a 2009 Nissan Versa as our grand prize for the duck race. This donation will make a significant impact on the success and promotion of this important fund raiser. Remember the Rockingham family of dealerships the next time you are considering a new or used car purchase.
President's Message

We now enter a crucial period for the club. Emmett Horgan's commitment of a 2009 Rockingham Motors Nissan Versa as the winning duck's Grand Prize has catapulted the Haverhill Rotary Rubber Duck Regatta to a new level. The Sponsorship Team is right now waging an intense effort to secure as many sponsorships as we can within the next week in order to list them in the 50,000 adoption papers that must soon go to print. If you have a few extra hours over the next week and the commitment / talent for calling on potential sponsors, please contact Sheryl Meehan or Terry Beaton to help out.
We also need help over the July 4th weekend. We hope to have a table down at the stadium marketing the duck race. Can you or a member of your staff help out for a few hours any of the weekend days Friday, Saturday or potentially Sununday? If so, please contact me ASAP. Please note that it's a great opportunity for non-profits to develop leads on buck a duck adoption sales to boost your agency's fundraising.
It's a tough act to follow so many accomplished Presidents of our club. Each has set a great example in different ways. I'm not a poet like Mike Hart. I don't command the respect nor have the kind of dignity that Cindy does. I'm not as calm and organized as Darlene. I'm not as quick and wise as Vince. Thank you so much to all club members for putting up with me!
I want to thank everyone for their help, involvement and support throughout the year. I especially want to thank my wife, Mary Jane, and my two sons, Jack and Will, for putting up with and without me this past Rotary year and beyond. I also want to thank all our committed staff and the Board of Directors at Community Action, Inc. for often carrying on without me. In addition, in no special order, I want to recognize a number of people who helped particularly during my term:
Vince Bonanno
Ira Korinow
Steve Goddu
Bill Klueber
Pam Carr
Linda Sundell
Don Beaton
Mary Gale
Cindy Ryan
Sheryl Meehan
Diane Franz
Scott Cote
Darlene Beal
Terry Beaton
Bernie Clohisy
Phil Brown
Jon Miller
Greg DiBurro
Bonnie Michaleas
Chuck Marvin
Julian Rich
Ron Albert
Fred Battistini
Chandler Noyes
Michel vanRavestyn
Buddy Baker
I apologize if I missed anyone. I also want to thank others who are starting to get more involved in the duck race. We are going to need everyone's help!
Please welcome and thank our Board of Directors for 2009 - 2010:
Ira Korinow, President
Julian Rich, 1st Vice President
Sheryl Meehan, 2nd Vice President
Bill Klueber, Treasurer
Bonnie Michaleas, Secretary
Frank Novak, Director
Steve Goddu, Director
Chuck Marvin, Director
John Cuneo, Past President
I am certain they will do a great job. Get ready for a great year with a lot of laughs and a lot of fines under president Ira!
See you Thursday,
John
Note from Adam Churchill

I wanted to send a note of thanks for the Club's time last
Thursday to promote the golf tournament in memory of my Aunt, Linda
Sundell. And it was an absolute treat to be there for the awarding of the
Rotary Scholarship in her name. As soon as I was out of the meeting, I
called my Mom and Uncle Dick. They were thrilled. Anything you folks can do to help us spread the word about the September 19 tournament, we'd
greatly appreciate it!
Thanks so much!
Adam

Preservation Hall Jazz Band
My wife and I enjoy Traditional and Dixieland Jazz. We especially like the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans, Louisiana. Whenever they come to our area we try to attend their concert.
A few years ago we were at one of their shows. When they are ready to play the final selection, When The Saints Go Marching In, members of the band leave the stage area with their instruments and march down to where the audience is seated. This is the signal for the audience to get out of their seats and march around the theater with the band.
There's more. Part of the tradition is for the audience to follow the band with raised umbrellas. This parade ends up on the stage. We joined the parade with our Haverhill Bank umbrellas. We were beautiful.
Haverhill Bank President and Rotarian Tom Faulkner never got fined at the Rotary Club for this advertisement.
