10,000 Ducks Sold Out!

President's Message

Dear Rotarians,
What a day! Despite the weather (although the ducks liked the rain!), the Duck race was a smashing success. A large crowd was present and I have no doubt that we can now call it the 1st Annual Duck Regatta!
In case you're unaware, all the ducks were sold and seeing 10,000 ducks "jump" off the Basiliere Bridge was awesome! While many were deeply involved in making the Regatta the success that it was, 3 Rotarians stand out - John Cuneo, Sheryl Meehan and Diane Franz. Without the three of them, the Duck Regatta would not have been what it was. Thank you John, Sheryl and Diane!
Here are the winners of the Duck Regatta:
1st Prize - 2009 Nissan Versa automobile donated by Rockingham Motors of Salem, NH was won by Eric Karlstad of Haverhill.
2nd Prize - 2 premium tickets to the Sept. 28th Red Sox game against the Toronto Blue Jays plus VIP parking donated by Steve and Doreen Early of S & R Construction was won by Jack and Charlene Farley of Tewksbury.
3rd Prize - Manchester Fisher Cats 2010 season luxury box suite for up to 18 people at an April or May game plus two VIP parking passes donated by the Fisher Cats was won by Michael Paradis.
4th Prize - Family Portrait Photo Session at Foto Factory Studio of Haverhill donated by Michel Van Ravestyn of Foto Factory was won by Haverhill Rotarian Dale and Marcia Rogers of Haverhill.
Lucky Duck (13th place) - a chance at a million dollars donated by Pentucket Bank of Haverhill was won by Debra Rogers of Plaistow, NH. Unfortunately no match was made. As a consolation prize, also donated by Pentucket Bank, Debra will receive "The Complete Celebrating America Quarter Collection Set (1999 - 2009)" coin collection.
And, of course, the big winner was Haverhill Rotary and the dozens of non-profits and scholarships that we support.
Congratulations to all the winners!
At its September meeting, the Board of Directors voted to initiate a new type of weekly raffle. A complete explanation will be given this Thursday - you won't want to miss it. The new weekly raffle will begin on Thursday, September 24th.
See you on Thursday.
Rotarily Yours,
Ira
Tattersall Farm Day Sunday September 20th

Rotary Club has worked the food concession in the past, and that begins at 12 noon and runs until about 4:00 or so. This year we will be open a little later to accommodate the hot air balloon rides which begin at 4:00. Rotarians cooked hamburgs and hot dogs, and all seemed to have a great time. We really need help with the food!
